When software tries to be helpful

Because I prefer webmail to mail clients, I use Google Notifier on my Mac. Most of the time it's great, but sometimes... it just... gets... in the way.

It takes fricking ages for the notification to fade so that I can continue typing my Google search term. If I mouse to the corner too quickly in anticipation of continuing my search, the notifier thinks I'm mousing to its message, and makes the damn thing come back again. Then I have to wait longer. And there's no way to customise it to appear in the opposite corner.

HTML and $\LaTeX$ both work here. Enclose your $\LaTeX$ code in "$" or "\[" as if you were using your favourite editor.
